Every
three minutes, someone in Canada dies. The end of a person’s life is a precious
time. Human beings need to find meaning in life and peace in death.

Canadians say they would prefer to die at home, yet of the approximately a
quarter of a million Canadians who will die this year, three out of four will
die in hospital or a long-term care facility. Only some will experience a death
that is truly comfortable, peaceful and loving.
The Hospice Society of
Greater Halifax believes the citizens of our community deserve better. We
believe that every individual has the right to expect the best possible quality
of life until the very end of that life. Achieving this goal is the heart and
soul of our work.
